De-Stressing ourselves..

I've been getting a lot of stress lately. Stress from work, problems and all sort of things around me. Stress as defined are simply forces from the outside world affecting the individual that in turn could affect us physically, mentally and spiritually . We need to cope up and sometimes de-stress ourselves. Here are some practical ways to free yourselves from stress.

1. Breathing Exercises
Breathing exercises can help get rid of stress almost instantly. The extra breathing will benefit the body in several ways but adding more oxygen to the blood and therefore, keeping the brain alert. This in turn will relax stiff muscles and keep the mind quiet. The best part is that these exercises can be done anywhere, anytime!

2. Meditation
If the breathing exercises will benefit you, mediation will take you a level higher. It has been said the meditation will allow your brain to enter a certain zone which the body enters when it is asleep. Add benefits include the release of such hormones which help to get rid of health problems. When you are meditating, your mind focuses on nothing at all, making it easier for you to de-stress.

3. Guided Imagery
While perfecting this de-stressing technique may take a while, fact is that it will help you leave all your troubles behind in no time. All you have to do is think of an image that soothes you and focus on that for a few minutes.

4. Visualizations
Another great way to de-stress is imagine yourself doing such tasks that you have been trying to perfect for a long time. When you see yourself doing them well, your mind will immediately relax itself and you will feel so much better!

5. Self-hypnosis
This de-stressing technique includes some of the features of visualization and guided imagery. It will allow your body to communicate with your mind when it is subconscious. Studies have shown that you will be able to then give up all your bad habits, find it easer to live a healthy life and feel less pain. Even though it may take some time to perfect this method, it is definitely worth it.

6. Exercise
People usually exercise to lose weight and build muscle, but some also do it to get rid of stress. This is because when you run, jog or walk, your brain releases “endorphins” which make you feel happy and positive within a few minutes. A great way to de-stress and stay fit!

7. Progessive Muscle Relaxation
If you focus on all your muscle groups by tensing and relaxing the muscles, you will be able to keep tension at bay and de-stress effectively. It requires no training at all. For example- if you grimace for ten seconds and then let it go repeatedly, you will be massaging the muscles in your face. Doing the same with your shoulders, neck and arms, will undoubtedly help you.

 8. Sex
Sex is an extremely effective tension reliever. Research has revealed that those who have sex frequently are less stressed than those who do not have sex at all.

9. Music
It has been said that music can help you get rid of stress by lowering blood pressure levels, calming the mind and relaxing the body. Music therapy is a very important aspect of stress management.

10. Yoga
Yoga has been in practice for over 5,000 years and is certainly the best way to get rid of stress. While it includes the benefits of almost all the above mentioned techniques, it focuses mostly on meditation and breathing exercises.
